Aeropress

Why AeroPress? Inexpensive and convenient, an aeropress is a handy method to learn for those times that you are lacking access to much equipment, time, or both. Sitting in an airport waiting to board? AeroPress. Camping? AeroPress. Running late to a meeting. AeroPress. The AeroPress is a convenient method to brew a smooth full-bodied cup of coffee.

  • Grind: fine
  • Brew time: 2 minutes
  • Water temp:185*
  • Brew ratio: 1:12
  • 15 g fresh coffee
  • 180 g water

Bring your water to a boil as you weigh out and grind your coffee. Once boiling, remove the water and allow it to cool to 185*. The water in this method must be noticeably cooler than most other methods, so be sure to check the temperature before use.

Insert a paper filter into the AeroPress cap. Wet the filter to suction it in preparation for the brew. Assemble the AeroPress, leaving the cap off.

Place your AeroPress on the scale with the side that would hold the filter and cap facing up. Tare the scale and add your ground coffee.

Start the timer and add double the amount of your starting grounds in water. In this case, add 30 grams of water. Ensure that the water evenly covers all of the grounds. Using the AeroPress paddle, swish the water around for a few seconds. Let it bloom for 30 seconds.

Add your remaining water and allow it to sit fo a minute. Stir the grounds 10 times, and screw the cap on to the top.

Quickly and carefully flip the AeroPress right side up to rest on your mug. Gently depress the plunger, holding onto your mug to prevent sliding.

Discard the coffee grounds and rinse your AeroPress. Enjoy!
